Book Review: Citrus Sweet + Savory Sun-Kissed Recipes

Sweet & Savory Sun-Kissed Recipes
By Valerie Aikman-Smith & Victoria Pearson

This sunny, citrus-infused collection showcases lemons, oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, and times as well as out-of-the-ordinary kumquats, pomelos, Buddha’s hand, and yuu in everything from breakfast to dinner, drinks to dessert. Seventy-five delicious, foolproof recipes include Tangerine Sticky Ribs, Burnt Sugar Meyer Lemon Tart, Citrus Crisps and Havana Mojitos, while beautiful photography captures the essence of citrus on the place. From miniature clementines to aromatic market limes, delicate Meyer lemons to ruby-hued grapefruits, the zesty, tangy flavors of Citrus will brighten up both your kitchen and your cooking.

Valerie Aikman-Smith is a Los Angeles-based writer and food stylist whose work can be seen regularly in advertising campaigns, editorials, cookbooks, and commercials. She is the author of Juicy Drinks; Cooking in Cast Iron; Salt, Smoke & Spice; and Pickled & Packed.

Victoria Pearson is a West Coast-based photographer whose work can be seen in House Beautiful, Martha Stewart Living, Town & Country, Travel & Leisure, Whole Foods, and Williams-Sonoma. She enjoys gardening and grows many varieties of citrus at her home in California.

My Thoughts: Of course I love a good cookbook, (take for example The Hot Bread Kitchen) so I was very happy to receive this Citrus Cookbook and test it out. I love that the recipes are divided into what citrus they use, the pictures are gorgeous, and there’s a great variety of difficulty in the recipes. Best of all everything I tried looked good! If you like Tamales you’ll like Citrus.
