I’ll freely admit I’m a bit food obsessed. More often than not this is sweet foods, that taste great but are terrible and just want to make me eat more. Lately however I’ve been working on making meals that are a bit better for me, and very filling which is where this casserole comes in! While there are a lot of variations on the typical casserole I love the Syrian version because I like the distinctive Arabian taste and the ease to make this casserole.
Ingredients needed for the Syrian Casserole
- 1/2 Onion
- Vegetable Oil
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 14 oz Macaroni
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 Ranch Packet
- White Cheese Cream
- Shredded Mozzarella
- Spices to taste (black pepper, curry, meat masala powder, cinnamon, garlic, seasoning salt)
First dice the onion and sauté in a large pan using vegetable oil, until the onions are golden brown. The add ground beef to the pan as well as the spices and cook for ten minutes. During this time you can boil macaroni in a large pot with water and make the cause. To do this add the heavy whipping cream, France sour cream and white cheese cream in a boil and mix.
Once the pasta and beef are done layer in a glass pan putting the beef on the bottom, the sauce next and last the macaroni. Then add mozzarella cheese to cover the top before putting in the oven at 350 degrees and low broil, cook for 10 minutes and it’s ready to serve.
