If you’ve followed my blog for awhile you’d notice that my weight fluctuates quite a bit. I’ve gone from very thin, to a little chunky, to thin, to even heavier, in a sort of cycle to do with school schedules, stress levels. At the end of each cycle I end up gaining more weight, and while I don’t think I have any adverse health affects yet, my continuing weight gain has become a worry. So I’ve decided to actually do something about it and am so happy to have Jenny Craig helping me out with my new meal plan.
I was especially interested in Jenny Craig because they are a clinically proven and recommended weight-loss program designed to provide structure and support to help members lose weight and learn how to keep it off. The program takes a holistic approach to weight loss and weight management, focusing on food, body and mind, instead of just counting calories. When I signed up though, I have to say I was a little worried about the food, how it would taste, and if I’d be getting enough of it.
My first experience was ordering the food which was extremely easy. We talked about what my current weight was, and what I planned to get to as well as any diet restrictions and if there were foods that I didn’t like. I pretty much went with “anything” and then waited, excitedly, for my food to come. Because I’m not close to a Jenny Craig center I went with the the phone version, but they also have Skype too, and all three options give you access to the Jenny Craig members’ site which I’ve found very helpful.
A few days after ordering my two weeks worth of food arrived and I was immediately impressed. Other than a few fruits and salad it’s about everything you’ll eat for the two weeks so there’s no guesswork. They even include the dressing you need. From the first day of trying Jenny Craig my fears of not having enough food or it not tasting good were dispelled completely.
While the food isn’t everything that’s the Jenny Craig program, because you get a consultant meeting each week. The consultant helps you with your meal, discuss challenges you’re having, and keep track of your product. But now back to the food with a look at my meal plan for one day.
I started my day with with a mixed berry bar, a ready to drink shake and my choice of fruit before I went off to class. The breakfast was filling and both the bar and the shake were really good.. Then during one of my classes I had an anytime bar to hold me over before lunch. It’s one of their cookie dough variety and that’s exactly what it tasted like. Then on to lunch which I was looking forward to as soon as I put the box in my lunch bag, street tacos. I also paired it with a salad and Jenny Craig dressing. The street tacos were everything I’d hoped for and the dressing for my salad was better than I expected. Then an apple for an afternoon snack and finally dinner at home after my classes were over. For dinner I had spaghetti and meatballs which were pretty good as well as cheesy broccoli that I forgot to take a photo of before eating. To finish I had an after dinner snack of lemon cooler cookies.
All of the meals so far have been fantastic, and I actually look forward to trying them which is way different than other weight loss foods that feel like a job.
