Over a year ago I was given the opportunity to try out the PMD Personal Microderm Device and while I was really excited to do so, the device didn’t work for me. It didn’t just not work, but left marks on my face that didn’t go away for a few days (pretty embarrassing). You can see the whole review HERE at my first PMD Personal Microderm Device Review. I was pretty disappointed that with all the hype my device didn’t work, but was impressed that the company didn’t send me a request (I get these occasionally and don’t comply) to take it down even though the product had been a PR sample.
I was even more impressed when I learned that they were updating their product and I was being sent this new Microderm Device to test out as well as a few of the PMD skincare essentials. After keeping it around for a few months I finally got over my fear and decided to try it. I’m so glad I did because my opinion on this device is totally different now.
In the package everything looked the same. There’s the instruction DVD (you can also look on youtube for instructions) the device with one cap attached for the face and then another cap for the body as well disks at different levels of abrasion. There was also a plug for the device to go into an outlet.
Now after watching the video to make sure I was going to use it correctly I first tested it out on my arm and immediately noticed the suction was different from the first device I had. It felt way more gentle so I decided to give it a try on my face using the lowest level of abrasion. While I did use this exactly the same way I used the other device it was completely different. The PMD did “stick” to my face when I put it against my skin but it wasn’t hard to remove. This time around it didn’t leave any lasting red marks on my skin, only redness for a few minutes and the results were amazing.
While this product is expensive, ranging between $150 and $200 depending on where you get it, it’s well worth the price and probably one of the best skin care tools I’ve ever tried. After just the first use the size of my pores were reduced and those hard to extract blackheads were diminished. I’m now using it once a week and following up with a vitamin c serum and am so happy with my skin.
Oh and the PMD skincare that I was given? Overall I think it’s good but at $80 for the set is a bit out of the price rage I spend for skincare and I think there are comparable options for a lot less. They’re all great for sensitive skin and do what you’d expect. The cleanser isn’t harsh and the toner and moisturizer are light weight but there isn’t a big wow factor like with the PMD Device.
