ColourPop Waffle Highlighter Trio, Review

As promised here I am with a makeup review. This one is especially good because it’s all about a set of makeup that’s very much a necessity in the trend department and from a brand that I absolutely love. That would be the highlighters from ColourPop specifically their Waffle Highlighter Trio that I was sent as a PR sample. Starting out with the packaging this set comes in a cardboard box with a pretty ombre coloring and the brand name in gold. Inside are the three highlighters, individually packaged. I did find it a bit hard to get them out without ripping the box and actually used a pencil to push them through. The packaging on each consisted of a basic white cardboard where you can see the color underneath and it has the product color name and the ColourPop name. Inside of those I was impressed to see the that each highlighter had a quality plastic contain with a clear twist off lid, and by how beautiful they are. Scrumptious – a pearlized silver …

Silicone Vs. Sponge Makeup Blender

While I’ve been getting the majority of my makeup and beauty products from PR companies for Instagram posts this silicone makeup blender isn’t one of those. It was sent specifically for a blog review and so that’s what I’m going to do today. I thought instead of review it as a stand alone I’d compare it directly to what I’m using currently a sponge makeup blender. Lets start with the looks. This makeup applicator is tear drop shipped with rounded edges and a smooth surface. It’s light weight but seems pretty durable. This is of course compared to a sponge applicator that is textured and much thicker with a tip. I decided to test out two different liquid foundations as well as cream contour. When I first tried using this silicone applicator it was a little rough going. I finally figured out that I couldn’t blend the same way and had to tap it into my skin with circular motions. I also learned that I needed way less product and completely over did it …

Clarins Tropical Splendor Eyeshadow, Review

It seems that I might have been getting a plethora of eyeshadow to review lately, which I am absolutely loving even if keeping up on reviews has been a little hard. . One of these such eyeshadows is one from Clarins, a limited edition to be exact, called Tropical Splendor. If you follow me on Instagram (which you totally should if you don’t yet) you’d see that I did use it to create what just might be my favorite look thus far with my turban (remember my blog post about wearing turbans) . Lets start with the packaging. On the outside the it comes in a red box with the Clarins name and some product information. I wasn’t all that impressed with how it looked but was with the compact inside. It has a gorgeous orange outside with palm leaves on it and is made of a thick plastic. On the inside the palette has four eyeshadows a sponge applicator and a mirror across the top. The colors range from an orange, a brown and …

ColourPop X Amanda Steele Weekend Warrior Palette, Review

Eyeshadow is one of those things that I’ve always thought had to be expensive. Sure I’ve loved drug store mascara and foundation/bb creams for awhile but whenever I’ve tried lower end eyeshadow not even to  drug store brands they just don’t work out. The pigmentation isn’t great and they crease terribly, but after trying out the Hello Kitty Colour Pop Set  I realized that maybe there are a few exceptions to the rule one of them being color pop. This Weekend Warrior Palette is actually a collaboration with the Youtube Amanda Steele which I think is really cool. It comes in a a purple cardboard “sleeve” with a diamond pattern and embossed lettering in silver. Inside the sleeve the palette is packaged in a cardboard box that is the opposite in coloring of the sleeve. I was impressed to see that it has a magnetic closure that really is a nice touch for an $18 retail palette. Inside there are four circular pans of eyeshadow. Throttle: a satin pale pink eyeshadow Harley: a matte cool grey …

Kiss New York Cream Contour Palette

While I’ve gotten a few products for review makeup wise (I have mentioned this in an earlier post) a lot of them while fun are are for very specific makeup looks. So as you might be able to guess I was very excited to get something like this Kiss Professionals New York Cream Contour Palette to review. While I don’t wear a lot of makeup for my everyday look I almost always take tome to do Contouring. It comes in a black box with the company name that’s cut out so you can see the majority of the shades inside. Inside the box the contour palette is packaged really very similarly. It has a black plastic outer casing and a huge window so you can see the colors inside. At first I didn’t really like this design, especially for a contour palette where you pretty much know what’s inside but it has grown on me. There are 8 cream shades for contouring inside as well as three shades for color correction. I personally like the …

Hello Kitty x ColourPop Hello Pretty Kit

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a review of any kind, especially a makeup review but I wanted to share one today. I’ve actually been getting quite a few different beauty related products, so I’m hoping to put up full review of them here along with the mini reviews I do of the products on Instagram. But lets talk about this Hello Kitty x ColourPop Hello Pretty Kit! I originally requested it simply because it is a Hello Kitty collaboration but when it arrived I was even more impressed with the contents. The box is a pretty Hello Kitty design with a red bow and blue background. It actually has a magnetic closure which I thought was really nice for the ColourPop price point. Included in the Hello Pretty kit were three eyeshadows, two lip products and two face products. On the left is the Fun with Friends Blush. I thought it was going to be a little dark for me, but it ended up being gorgeous mid level shade of pink with warm tones. …

Anjou Dead Sea Mud Mask, Review

In my beauty routine one of the most important things is skincare. While I don’t war makeup everyday (especially if I’m just going to school) I’m always sure to do my full skincare routine. I have separate day and night routines as well as those things that I do weekly. Some of these are things to get rid of and keep away acne, some to reduce scars, and some for moisturizing and some to reduce signs of aging.  I’m especially fond of products that can check off more than one of these needs and was very happy to review a dead sea mask that claimed to be able to do so. This dead sea mud mask is from Anjou (you can find them on amazon)  who were nice enough to send it to me for review.  The price is about $18 and has free prime shipping, and is 17 oz.  When it came in I was immediately happy that it was safety sealed with plastic both around the box and inside the container of the dead sea …

TanMeBox Subscription, Unboxing + Review

I’ve tried a lot of subscription boxes. Some are great (like the Popsugar Must Have Box) and others not so much (like the BoxedWingman Date Night Box), which is why I love sharing the subscription boxes with you guys so you can be sure to avoid the bad and know which boxes are good. So on that note I want to introduce you to my latest subscription box the TanMeBox. It is a little different than most subscription boxes because it is a one at a time box that you can buy as you need it instead of being automatically charged each month, and each of the products will be the same each time. It’s kind of like a tanning essentials box.  They offer three different sizes ranging from prices of $62-$82 and I was sent the midrange box for an Instagram post (they aren’t associated with this blog post in any way) and promptly went away at trying it. Inside my box contained two kabuki brushes, gel self tanner, bronzer spray and shimmer bronzer. …

Review: PMD Microderm Device + Skincare

Over a year ago I was given the opportunity to try out the PMD Personal Microderm Device and while I was really excited to do so, the device didn’t work for me. It didn’t just not work, but left marks on my face that didn’t go away for a few days (pretty embarrassing). You can see the whole review HERE at my first PMD Personal Microderm Device Review. I was pretty disappointed that with all the hype my device didn’t work, but was impressed that the company didn’t send me a request (I get these occasionally and don’t comply) to take it down even though the product had been a PR sample. I was even more impressed when I learned that they were updating their product and I was being sent this new Microderm Device to test out as well as a few of the PMD skincare essentials. After keeping it around for a few months I finally got over my fear and decided to try it. I’m so glad I did because my opinion on …

BoxedWingman Unboxing + Review

Like a lot of people I absolutely love subscription boxes. I’ve tried everything from food subscription boxes (check out my Hello Fresh review) to lifestyle boxes like Popsugar’s Must Have Boxes, but had never tried a date night box. Actually until this year I’d never heard of having a subscription box for dates, but for the past month or so this company BoxedWingman seemed to be sponsoring all of my favorite Instagram influencers, one of which was giving away 100 free boxes to their followers, which I couldn’t pass up. The first thing I didn’t like when I went to the site is that you couldn’t see previous months’ boxes to get a feel of what was going to be in your box, but since I thought I was getting a free box, it didn’t really matter. Unfortunately the box wasn’t free as I had to pay $6 for shipping (which I didn’t realize until after I’d submitted my order) but I wasn’t too concerned as that’s still pretty cheap for a subscription box. While …
